About Roaming Coaches
Some ideas begin as business plans. This one began as a life transition.
Roaming Coaches was founded by Mark Feinberg, out of his own experience with change, loss, reinvention, and fatherhood, and a simple realization: some of life's most important conversations happen outside traditional offices.
Why I created Roaming Coaches
For most of my career, I built and led businesses, and helped other founders and executives do the same. I was good at solving hard problems. I was less practiced at sitting with the ones that do not have a clean answer.
Then life changed.
The pandemic hit my business hard. My business partner and his daughter were killed in a plane crash. The company eventually failed, and I lost more than money.
What followed was not a clean reinvention. It was a long stretch of grieving, rebuilding, parenting, and reconsidering what success meant to me.
Over time, I did less operating and more coaching, working with founders, executives, and business owners through the sale of a company, retirement, burnout, and the questions that come after. Who am I when the thing I built is no longer the answer? What comes after loss, or a sale, or an empty nest, when the old version of life does not fit anymore and the next one has not shown up yet?
Those are not questions people solve in a conference room. They need trust, time, and someone who knows how to listen without rushing to fix everything.
I am not building Roaming Coaches because I think everyone needs to be optimized. I am building it because a lot of people are carrying questions they have nowhere meaningful to bring.
The role of place
A place that stayed with me.
In early 2020, I spent time at Las Catalinas in Costa Rica. Something about the nature, the design, and the slower daily rhythm stayed with me. Even through the hard years that followed, it stuck as an example of a place where people might hear themselves more clearly.
Years later, as my son got close to graduating and I started thinking about life as an empty nester, I came back to a question: what would it look like to put coaching inside a place like that? Not a coach who visits and leaves, but one who lives there, becomes part of the rhythm, and is around for the conversations that happen when people finally have room to think.
Roaming Coaches grew from that question.
About Mark Feinberg
Mark has spent more than twenty-five years as an entrepreneur and executive, including time at EY and IBM, founding and selling businesses, and operating roles inside growing companies. He holds a bachelor's degree and an MBA from Emory University.
He served as an Entrepreneur in Residence and Coach at a large university, coaching founders and supporting commercialization efforts. He also coaches first-time CEOs, experienced executives, and business owners through both strategic decisions and major life transitions. His work starts from a simple belief: clarity begins when someone has room to say what is actually true.
He is also a father, writer, and photographer, with a long-standing interest in how place, reflection, and conversation shape the way people live.

Coaching does not have to be separate from the places where people live, gather, and reconsider their lives. A Coach in Residence is not the center of attention. It is a steady, accessible presence inside the community, and the work can start in a scheduled session or over coffee, on a walk, or in an unplanned conversation with someone who knows how to listen.
